Residential Rates

With CoServ's electric rates, what you see is what you get. Everything is open and transparent. Our plans never lure you in with lower introductory rates that will expire and jump up to higher rates. There's no shopping around, either. In fact, CoServ Customer Care Specialists are equipped with software that analyzes your electricity usage to find a rate that works best for your life.

All of CoServ's residential electric rates include energy charges and wires (transmission and distribution) charges.

All of these rate plans can be combined with one or more of our Billing Programs to simplify your life.

Perfect for everyone. Our Standard Residential Rate is available to all CoServ Members—no gimmicks, no hidden fees, and no expiration dates.

Members are automatically enrolled, with the flexibility to choose other rate options if they prefer. This rate consistently remains lower than most 12‑month fixed prices offered by retail electric providers.

Perfect for: CoServ’s Members who have rooftop solar installations.

CoServ buys back all of the excess solar energy that Members produce at their homes at the avoided wholesale cost. This appears as a credit that is applied to your bill.

CoServ offers three rate options to best fit your energy needs, including a 100% renewable option.

DG Buyback (standard)

Perfect for: All CoServ Members who have rooftop solar installations. Members are automatically enrolled in this rate, but there are several others to choose from. Our Standard Residential Rate is consistently less than most 12-month fixed prices that REPs offer.

CoServ buys back all the excess solar energy that Members produce at their homes at the avoided wholesale cost.

This appears as a received energy credit. The credit from the received energy can be applied to the Customer Charge, PCRF, SCRF, Energy Charge and any applicable taxes. If additional credits are still owed, they will be applied to the next month's bill.

Additional Information

DG Rate Definitions (Del & Rec):

Del: When your house uses more energy than your solar system produces, energy from the grid is combined with solar to supply your house, and the meter flows forward. This is the energy delivered to your home, and you are billed for this energy at the applicable retail rate.

Rec: When your solar panels are producing more than your house’s consumption, the excess solar energy not needed by your house flows onto the grid, and the meter flows backward. This is the energy received by CoServ. This amount will not match the output registered by your solar inverter; it represents only the excess solar production your house does not need. You are provided a received energy payment at CoServ's avoided wholesale cost.

For details, see Section 202.15 of the Tariff. To sign up, email [email protected]. If your system was installed prior to February 1, 2023, and you would like to enroll in the Distributed Generation (DG) Rate with Buyback, please email [email protected] with your request. However, you are not permitted to switch back to the DG Rate with Net Metering after making this request.

Perfect for: CoServ Members who want added peace of mind during outages and are interested in whole‑home backup power — without the cost, noise, or maintenance of a traditional generator.

Through this Member‑only program, qualifying homes can receive a whole‑home battery backup system from Base Power that automatically turns on in the event of an outage.

Reliability Plus

Members are only responsible for the energy their home uses—CoServ provides a monthly credit to cover the energy used by the battery. The system is monitored and maintained by Base Power at no additional cost. Solar is not required, but compatible.

When you enroll in the Base Battery Program, your account is placed on the Reliability Plus rate for billing purposes—but you’ll still pay the same electricity rate as the Standard Residential Rate. CoServ remains your electric provider.

This setup keeps battery use from affecting your electric costs and allows your Reliability Plus Program credit to appear starting with your first bill after installation.

Additional Information

Reliability Plus Participation Credit: $12.50 per month, per battery

Each month, CoServ provides a Reliability Plus Participation Credit to account for the energy lost due to battery efficiency during charging and discharging as part of the program.

DEL (Delivered Energy):
When your home is using more electricity than your distributed generation system is producing or discharging, the additional energy is supplied by the grid. During these times, the meter flows forward. This is the energy delivered to your home, and Members pay the full retail rate per kilowatt-hour.

REC (Received Energy):
When your distributed generation system produces or discharges more electricity than your home is using, the excess energy flows onto the grid, and the meter flows backward. This is the energy received by CoServ. The amount recorded by the meter reflects only the excess energy exported to the grid—not the total output of your generation system.

BILLED:
The billed amount is calculated by subtracting the amount of energy received (REC) from the amount of energy delivered (DEL). This is the amount you are billed for during the billing period.
