Billing Programs
Take control of your bill with one of our Budget Billing Plans.
Budget Billing Plans make it easier to bear those extreme temperature swings by smoothing out the highs and lows. During high-consumption months, you can expect to pay less than the actual usage and during low-consumption months, you can expect to pay more.
- Fixed Budget Billing Plan
Your monthly bill will be calculated based on the 12-month average and will be the same each month until your budget amount is recalculated, which happens every April and October. Once the recalculation is complete, you will receive a bill message with your new budget amount, which will go into effect the following month.*Chart is an example for illustration purposes only. All months are based on the same energy rate and the average residential usage for a dual-service account.
- Average Budget Billing Plan
Your monthly bill is calculated based on the rolling 12-month average at your location, providing you with a more consistent and predictable bill. Unlike the Fixed Payment Plan, your budget amount will not be the same each month but should fluctuate by just a few dollars because it is recalculated monthly.*Chart is an example for illustration purposes only. All months are based on the same energy rate and the average residential usage for a dual-service account.
What happens during recalculation?
For both plans, recalculation ensures that you're neither overpaying nor underpaying. Any accumulated unpaid balances or credits are taken into account and reflected in your new budget amount. For Fixed Budget Billing plans, this happens twice a year and for Average Budget Billing plans this happens monthly.
How to enroll:
For new participants, you can enroll online through your SmartHub account. Your account must have a zero balance at the time of enrollment to be eligible. For more information, view our Budget Billing Enrollment Guide.
CoServ residential Electric Members and Gas Customers must have at least six months of billing history at a particular address before they can qualify for a Budget Billing Plan. Budget Billing Plans are only available for residential accounts.
Make it even easier by signing up for Auto Pay and Paperless Billing.
Please note: If your balance is not paid by the due date, you will be subject to immediate removal from the plan and any outstanding credit/debit will be applied to your next statement. If at any time a Member decides they no longer want to be on a Budget Billing Plan or if they close out their account, any outstanding debit will be due. If there is a credit, it will be issued on the next billing statement or final bill.
