-
- WHAT: An incentive program that rewards members with a monthly bill credit of $7 or $84 dollars a year for charging their vehicles during off-peak hours (see below).
-
- WHY: As CoServ's service area grows, more demand is added to the electric grid. By creating programs like Rush Hour Rewards and the EVX ChargeSmart Beta program, we help lower demand and keep reserves on the grid steady. EVX ChargeSmart Beta Program FAQ
Why is my vehicle ineligible?
There are several reasons your vehicle may be ineligible for CoServ's EVX ChargeSmart Beta program. The most common reason is data access restrictions from the OEM. Some OEMs have decided to limit participation in managed charging programs, while others may have limits on accessible data or simply prevent access to manage charging times.
Will participation in CoServ's EVX ChargeSmart Beta program affect my current rate?
No, your rate and any optional programs that you're enrolled in will stay the same.
What happens when the pilot program is over?
CoServ will closely monitor the pilot program throughout the year, with the expectation that we will launch a full program open to all our Members afterward. More details, including any new incentives or changes to the program itself, will be communicated when and if that program is decided on.
What does managed charging mean?
Managed charging considers the vehicle's energy needs and charging objectives (e.g., charging during off-peak hours) and creates a streamlined way to achieve both.
Can I opt-out if I need to charge during peak times?
You are always in control of your vehicle. You can easily opt-out through the app if you need to charge during peak hours. You can do this up to five times each month.
What happens if I unenroll from the pilot program early?
You will stop receiving monthly bill credits if you decide to unenroll from the CoServ EVX ChargeSmart Beta program before December 31, 2025.
How are peak hours determined?
The peak times used in the CoServ EVX ChargeSmart Beta program were derived from the previous year's trends, where CoServ experienced the highest demand on its systems.
Top Enrollment & Driver Questions
What do you mean by OEM account or app?
The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is the manufacturer of your car (e.g., Tesla, Chevrolet), and each has its own way of communicating with the car. This can often be called a 'connected services app'. To connect your car to the CoServ EVX ChargeSmart Beta program, you will need your login credentials for the service from your manufacturer.
What if I do not know my login for my car's online account with my manufacturer?
You will need to request/reset your account information with your manufacturer to obtain the correct information. This is needed to connect your car to the CoServ EVX ChargeSmart Beta Program.
Can I add another car?
You can add a second car to your account. However, for this Beta program, you will only receive a bill credit for the first car. To add another vehicle, once you are in your Dashboard, click "Add Vehicle +" at the bottom. You will be prompted to select your vehicle and add your login credentials.
How do I delete my car?
Once you are in your Dashboard, click the red outlined X next to your vehicle and you will be prompted to confirm you want to delete the selected vehicle.
Why is my charging location important?
The CoServ EVX ChargeSmart Beta program will only manage charging and/or transmit charging session information at the defined locations. For example, if you've defined your charging location at your home address and you go to the grocery store and plugin during an event, no data will be transmitted, and your car will not participate in managed charging.
Do I need to do anything during peak hours?
CoServ's EVX ChargeSmart Beta program will actively manage charging for your vehicle, and you do not need to take any action to participate during peak hours. If your car is plugged in and above 20% battery, the EVX ChargeSmart Beta program will automatically delay charging until after peak hours to help lower demand.
How do I opt-out if I need to charge during peak hours?
To opt out of managed charging, log into your dashboard and pause charging by toggling the managed charging button to 'Off' (see image below).
Is my information secure?
CoServ takes your data security and data privacy very seriously and uses an encrypted token to communicate with your EV telematics system.
What does EVX ChargeSmart Beta do with my car information?
We utilize your car's existing API to:
-
- Help you save money each month through active managed charging.
-
- Comply with the charging preferences you manually set up in our app
-
- Provide anonymized information to CoServ about driving data so we can plan new grid infrastructure and optimize new charging locations for electric vehicles.
-
