The Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas (CAC) received a special delivery from CoServ’s Community Engagement Team this month. The toys, clothes and hygiene items were donated by CoServ Employees and their families during its annual holiday drive. CAC will distribute them to their clients – more than 450 children were on the Lewisville nonprofit's Christmas list as of Dec. 16.

Kate Lynass, CAC’s grants manager, said families start requesting assistance in mid-November and more requests are expected before the season ends.

CAC wouldn’t be able to help fulfill that wish list without donations from community partners like CoServ, she said.

“These toys are all going to go to the families who need them,” Kate said. “They’re not going to have a Christmas without this.”

CAC works with children who are victims of felony-level abuse. They have highly specialized staff who interview the children one time on behalf of police, prosecutors and others so victims don’t have to continually relive the event.

Last year, they helped more than 5,000 children and they expect to surpass that this year.

In addition to the Christmas gifts, the CoServ Charitable Foundation (CCF) has awarded more than $27,500 in grants over the last two years that helped CAC purchase clothes, food, snacks, therapy supplies and emergency clothes.

CCF will highlight CAC’s amazing work in the community at the CoServ jersey night at the Texas Legends game on Feb. 7.
