CoServ Celebrates 500k Meters
In 2025, CoServ will reach the half-million-meter mark for gas and electric meters!
With nearly 330,000 electric meters, CoServ is the country's third-largest electric cooperative, and our meter count ranks in the top 100 among all electric distribution utilities nationwide. In addition, CoServ Gas has almost 170,000 gas meters and has grown to be the fifth-largest gas distribution utility in Texas.
Despite record growth in our 88-year history, we have maintained our dedication to providing safe and reliable service. In 2024, CoServ had a SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) score of 22.6, meaning the average Member was without power for about 23 minutes. That’s almost nine points better than 2023 and the best SAIDI score in CoServ’s history!
So, how do we do it?
Growth of this magnitude while maintaining reliability requires coordination and dedication across the organization. Every department within CoServ must work in harmony to ensure the timely and high-quality work that CoServ is known for.
Whether it’s CoServ's engineering department designing new infrastructure, linemen and contractors building those plans out, meter technicians installing and ensuring meter accuracy, Customer Care Specialists setting up service, or the accounting department keeping track of billing, these are just a few examples of the many departments that play a crucial role in CoServ’s success.
Celebrating a Milestone
Reaching 500,000 meters is a huge milestone for CoServ, and as we celebrate, we want to thank our Members and Customers first and foremost because this wouldn't have been possible without you.
In addition, nearly 600 talented individuals driven by serving our Members and Customers show up to work each day at CoServ. We want to thank every Employee who has had a hand in getting us to this point, past and present.
