Be aware of holiday season scammers!

DON’T LET THE GRINCH steal your holiday cheer this year. These are just some of the things people should be on the lookout for.

A phone call threatening to disconnect your electricity in a matter of hours if payment isn’t made.

Someone claiming you need to pay an upfront fee for a new electric meter or other equipment to continue having service at your house.

Anyone saying you must pay via pre-paid gift card.

A door-to-door solar salesman promising to eliminate your electric bill while claiming to work for CoServ.

THE BOTTOM LINE is that CoServ doesn’t do business this way. At best, the door-to-door salesperson is misleading or dishonest. At worst, these are scammers trying to steal your money.

Knowledge is power and luckily, CoServ has made it easy to confirm your account status or research whether solar power is right for you.

Questions?

If you ever have questions about your bill, the quickest and easiest thing to do is to log into SmartHub where you can find real-time answers to your questions:

  • How much do I owe?
  • When is my bill due?
  • Am I scheduled to be disconnected?

You can also email CoServ Customer Care at [email protected] or call them at 940-321-7800.

COSERV WILL NEVER:

Call about a past-due balance one hour before disconnection.

Request that a past-due balance be paid via pre-paid gift card or mobile payment apps like Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, etc.

Demand payment for equipment, such as a meter.

COSERV WILL:

  • Send a disconnection notice via the mail three days after the due date, which gives another 10 days to pay before service will be subject to disconnect.
  • Send notifications and emails through SmartHub about past-due balances and pending disconnection.
