Sanger ISD

In 2010, Sanger ISD Superintendent Kent Crutsinger partnered with CoServ Area Manager Craig Chambers to identify energy saving opportunities. After CoServ’s evaluation of their schools, we recommended energy saving measures such as changing the temperature and time set points for the district’s HVAC systems, enrolling in our time-of-use program, upgrading the commercial lighting to energy efficient bulbs, and educating them on phantom load.

Superintendent Crutsinger stated, “Craig has become our biggest supporter and resource for reducing electrical cost for Sanger ISD."

The district continues to implement energy saving options. The FLIP IT sticker program, where stickers are placed above outlets and light switches, constantly reminds students and teachers of the need to conserve power. To further motivate individual schools, monthly progress reports are sent to each principal with cost savings and power usage figures, so results are tangibly demonstrated.

Currently, savings for the district stand at $280,274 and counting. With some of those dollars, the district has been able to provide iMac laptops in classrooms and channel more money into educational needs and equipment.

“It has been a very positive change for our entire district and many staff members have changed habits at home as well,” said Superintendent Crutsinger.
